I have an Ipaq 1940 series.

I am no longer able to access the information in Notes and Contacts. There is no response when I tap the screen although using the Calender is fine.

Can anyone help please.

I do not know how such a problem could arise, but would suggest that your device data has somehow become corrupted. Since it is only Pocket Outlook related data, Notes and Contacts both being tied to Outlook, I guess that this could have something to do with Activesync and the desktop Outlook... but do not know for certain. I stopped using the Notes application in 2000, after it caused me several rather serious data losses. The program has barely changed in the past 9 years from what I understand, though the synching of Notes data with a PC has changed somewhat in nature. It was a badly made program to begin with. I suggest that you consider a different program for note making in future, whether it's Pocket Word or some third party program. There are many, from dozens of plaintext editors to dozens more for scribbles and a few which combine both as does Notes. For voice notes, there are many, many recording apps, with Resco Audio Recorder being about the best in my opinion.

If you have a backup from before the corruption occurred then restoring from that might help. A preliminary hard reset is advisable, before restoring, to avoid just adding to the corruption. Of course if you do not do frequent, reliable (non-native - the built-in backup application is likely not to be reliable unless it's a Sprite Backup version as with some iPAQ models) backups, restoring will cost you your more recent data. You might also try making a fresh full backup and restoring from that after a hard reset. Might shake things loose... but this seems unlikely.
