Hi,

Final release of textmaker for handheld pc. Is it possible to set up different header and footer for the first page of the document? I want special for the first page, but nothing for the subsequent and other pages.

Thanks

Yes, two solutions, depending on how fancy you want it to be.

If you just want separate headers and footers for the first page but identical ones for the rest of the document, do the following:

1. Insert headers and footers by calling Insert/Header and Insert/Footer.

2. Call up Format/Chapter and set "Master page starts on page" to 2. This means that headers and footers (which are simply text frames on the master page) will only be displayed and printed starting with page 2.

3. Create regular text frames on page 1 for the headers and footers that you want to have just on page 1.

You can save this all in a document template, so you do not have to do it over and over again.

If you want totally different sets of headers and footers in your document, you divide up your document into "chapters" by calling Insert/Breaks/Chapter break at the appropriate places.

A "chapter" is a part of a TextMaker document with a unique set of headers and footers. So, by moving the caret into the appropriate chapter and then calling up Insert/Header or Insert/Footer, you are creating headers and footers JUST FOR THIS chapter.

To get real fancy, you can have separate headers and footers for left and right paces, set up a gutter, make headers and footers start on odd or even pages etc.

Also, you are not limited to the header and footer area. As I said, headers and footers are just text frames on the master page. You can create ANY frame object on your master page(s), even in the middle of the page. These will be repeated on every page of the document, and body text can even flow around them, if you want it to.
